hurricane sandy so instead of asking for toys they want santa to bring items like clothes and other necessities like good health even. coming up i'll introduce you to some of the elves working to make those holiday wishes come true. >>> we begin this morning in texas, police say dallas cowboys defensive lineman josh brent has been charged with vehicle lar manslaughter. miguel almaguer. >> reporter: josh brent was charged with intoxication manslaughter after a passenger and his car, fellow teammate jerry brown was killed in an accident. >> it appears he was traveling at a high rate of speed, at which time his vehicle touched or impacted the outside curb of the service road, causing his vehicle to flip. >> reporter: brent and brown played football together at the university of illinois. while in college brent pleaded guilty to a dui in 2009. saturday, when police arrived on scene, officers say brent was pulling brown's body from the wreckage. member of the cowboys practice team, brown was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. brent faces 2 to 20 years in prison and is expected in cour

of the week. >> two area families joined forces to help victims of superstorm sandy celebrate the holidays. they collected donations and stuffed a truck full of toys. we first introduced you to 5-year-old sadey and 6-year-old tyler on 11 news earlier this week. when they learned each family was gathering toys to give to children who lost everything in the storm, they teamed up with the goal to fill this truck outside of target in white matt schaub. >> schaub -- marsh. >> we never thought we'd be able to fill a trailer so we are stuffing this truck today and taking it out next weekend to the kids who lost everything. >> sadey's mom says they're grateful for all of the and the families plan to drive the truck next weekend to point pleasant, new jersey. >> and hundreds of families with loved ones deployed overseas by the military have christmas trees in their homes this morning thanks to local business. the staff of the hubbard funeral home worked with the national guard to identify families that might need extra help in the holiday season. yesterday, they gave away close to 300 trees. >> it'

week at the hurricane sandy benefit concert. ♪ >>> and today fans remembered former beatle john lennon who was shot and killed 32 years ago today. this tribute took place at the strawberry fields memorial in central park near the dakota apartments where lennon lived. on december 8th, 1980 lennon was returning home from recording session when he was shot by a deranged fan. mark david chapman. when the news of the shooting spread hundreds of fans gathered for a candle light vigil. >>> a garage sale at the home of bob hope shut down early this weekend because fans bought up everything. in sight. from hope's old golf programs and gi joe collectibles bearing his likeness to some rolled up carpets and a head board? hundreds of people wanted a piece of bob hope. one staff member said this was the cheap stuff sitting in two garages at the hope estate at the lake but it had value to the fans. >> i got four chairs and the table. >> i need one and i wanted juan for the backyard. i have a couple of ohs and it was bob hope's. >> an employee of the estate says it doesn't represent bob hope's legacy.
